A 'living bandage' made from stem cells, which could revolutionize the treatment and prognosis of a common sporting knee injury, has been trialed in humans for the first time.

Journal of Biomaterials has today released the first publication of Azellon’s stem cell technology product for the repair of meniscal tears. The published work was done over several quarters prior to the submission in November 2009. Since the submission Azellon has initiated pre-clinical work and the early results have been very encouraging.
